Staff Spotlight – Tanya

The lovely Tanya was kind enough to take part in Housing Trust’s first staff spotlight for 2022!

Remarkably Tanya celebrates her 16 year anniversary with Housing Trust in March 2022. It is wonderful to hear more about Tanya’s role and what she loves best about it.

2. Why did you apply to work at Housing Trust?

I had been working in Retail for many years and  I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to work in an industry that I was passionate about and wanted to help change and enrich people’s lives.

3. What is your current role?

Running of Reception and front of house

4. What have you learnt from working at Housing Trust?

We Provide our tenants with homes that they can be proud of and give them reliable service and ongoing support.

5. What have you learnt about Community Housing from working with us?

Community housing provides safe secure affordable and appropriate rental housing for those who needs are less able to be met by the private sector.

6. What is your advice for people applying to work at Housing Trust?

When you work for the housing trust you can have opportunities for career growth and all employees are valued team members plus this organisation is a Great place to work!.

7. What do you love most about your job?

Over the 16 years that I have worked at THT I have got to know our Tenants and enjoy engaging with them on phones calls , meeting them when they come into our office, Tag meetings and other Social Events .

The Tenant Christmas party is always a great day for our tenants and always love to see the look on the children’s faces when Santa arrives very special.

8. What’s something people don’t know about your job?

Apart from running reception and front of house , I do data entry support my fellow colleagues within our  customer service and support group.

I enjoy working with Joanne Reed on Community engagement events and The Tyler West Scholarship, which I am very proud to be a part of.

I have worked with our trainees over many years, training them on running of reception and front of house and now our Cadetship program.

I also ran THT social club for many years

Its true what I say  I Love My Job !!

9. Any other comments you would like to share about Housing Trust?

Over my 16 years with THT I have seen our organisation grow from the small houses which were our offices in George St then on to Smith Street  and now our beautiful office in Coniston.

I am proud to be a part of this wonderful organisation and great to see how far we have come .

I would like to thank the people that I work with  my fellow staff members, our Management Teams, our Board of directors and company secretory ,our wonderful CEO and leader Michelle Adair and last but not least our Tenants.

Record number of Housing Trust tenants awarded Tylah West Education Scholarship

A record 53 Housing Trust tenants aged five to 50-plus were awarded the annual Tylah West Education Scholarship this week (15 April), marking a significant increase from the first three scholarships in 2016 and more than doubling last year’s number.
The Traders in Purple development is unusual in that it sections off 25 per cent of homes for locals, first-home buyers, essential workers and affordable housing.
