Housing Trust Golf Day

Housing Trust tees off for Tylah West Education Scholarship program

Housing Trust is seeking to drive its support for the Tylah West Education Scholarship program to a new level with the announcement of an annual fundraising golf day to be held at the Wollongong Golf Club on May 28, 2021.

The day has had an overwhelming response due to the support of Housing Trust suppliers and contractors as well as local golfers many of whom have taken up the challenge to include a woman in their team.  Housing Trust encourages the community to support its residents with their education and employment goals by taking one of the few team spots that remain available.

This year 18 tenants were assisted by a $20,000 Tylah West Scholarship but this new initiative will ensure more funds will be available for future distribution. Housing Trust CEO Michele Adair said the program provides vital resources and support to tenants with funds used to affray the costs of school, college and TAFE fees, laptops, transport and equipment.

“A person’s ability to reach their education and career goals should not be determined by income,” she said. “In just a few short years, this scholarship program has proven highly beneficial to a broad range of people who are achieving amazing results in their schooling or careers.

“The golf day is a fun and accessible way we can invite the community to be a part of this valuable initiative and support others in a highly practical way.”

All funds raised from the golf day will directly support the scholarship program. The event will be a four-person ambrose with registration from 7am and tee-off from 8.30am.

There will be prizes, raffles and other on-course activities throughout the day with entry fees including green fees, breakfast and lunch. A new Volkswagen Polo can also be won with a hole in one! Teams are encouraged to include at least one female player in their team. To secure one of the final teams in the golf day contact Rachel.Foster@housingtrust.org.au

The program is now in its fifth year and has helped 63 Housing Trust tenants reach their educational and employment goals. More than $80,000 has been distributed to recipients.
